Central Llyn "The peace and quiet of Wales - The climate and landscape of Llyn" The inland area of western Llyn is a very special area. The lush, evergreen valleys, ancient volcanic peaks, tangled in history, and plenty of small villages, all giving a warm Welsh welcome. Although inland Llyn as a whole does not have many man-made attractions for the tourist, there is no shortage of interesting places to visit. The best of these has to be Carn Fadryn, rising to 371m, in the centre of the peninsula. The upper slopes of the hill are steep, but your efforts are well rewarded on your arrival at the yellow triangulation pillar on the summit. A stunning Llyn panorama, taking in all of the coast from Porthmadog up to Yr Eifl. On a clear day, the view extends south to St. David's Head in Pembrokeshire, Holyhead Mountain to the northeast and the peaks of Snowdonia. Running southeast from Carn Fadryn are a string of hills running right down to the shear cliffs of Llanbedrog Headland. The main peaks are those of Garn Bach, Garn Saethon, Carneddol and Mynytho Common. The main villages in this area are Botwnnog, Dinas, Garnfadryn and Rhyd-y-Clafdy. Botwnnog has a school, Post Office and an English church. Rhyd-y-Clafdy has a pub and a post office.
