If you are looking for a New Year's Resolution, why not to help make world poverty history yours for 2005? My favourite comedy programme, the Vicar of Dibley brought this organisation to my attention and now I would like to bring it to yours. You can do anything from sending Tony Blair a postcard or email, to wearing the White Band to standing up and making your mark at the G8 summit in Scotland this July. Whatever you do all you really need to do is show the government that you care. This way they can help tackle this problem in the best ways possible - through meaningful changes in trade, debt and aid. 30,000 people die every day just because they are poor, 5 people every 5 minutes because they can't afford the drugs they need, and because of this MakePovertyHistory has said enough is enough and is making 2005 the year of the White Band and are looking for us all to show that we care so that the politicians will do something. So have a very happy new year, and help people all over the world have a happier and brighter future just by showing you care. |
