Cardigan Bay from Foel Gron.
Foel Gron, or as the people of Mynytho call it,
the Foel, is a rounded hill lying to the west of the
village, giving superb views of Abersoch, St.
Tudwal's Islands and Porth Neigwl/Hell's Mouth. The
heather here in late summer is beautiful. The car
park at the base of the hill has public toilets and
picnic benches.
From the car park take the steps that start to
make their way up the hill, the path then splits
into two. Continue straight on for the slightly less
steep route, where you will need to turn right at
the next path junction to head for the summit. If
you turn right at the first junction then this path
links up with another path higher up the hill.
Neither paths are very even and both are fairly
steep.
There is a cairn and information post on the
summit - where you can take in the stunning views
all around you. You can extend your walk further
along Mynytho common by carrying on straight across
the summit and down a steep path on the other side
of the hill. There are a variety of paths to follow,
heading roughly to the right will eventually bring
you to a straight lane, if you turn right on this
lane and carry straight on you will find yourself
back at the start.
