Walk: Pen-y-Garn
Map: Lleyn Peninsula West / Pen Llyn Ardal Orllewinol 253
Directions: Head towards Nefyn on the A497 from Pwllheli, and only about a mile from the town you will come to a right hand turn next to a farm, turn here and follow the country lane over a bridge and up the hill. Choose a suitable parking place on the road, normally best is on the right hand side where the 30 mph signs are.
Say it!: Pen-y-Garn: pen-uh-garn (some just say pen-garn)

Glan Don, Pwllheli from Pen-y-Garn

Pen-y-Garn stands over Pwllheli, yet is only 71m above sea level. It is only a short walk to the top, and the views are excellent. However, even on a hill of this modest height there is some scrambling needed near the top.

Views extend over the town and across Cardigan Bay to the Rhinog Mountains behind Harlech and down to Pembrokeshire on a clear day. To the north this Yr Eifl and the Gyrn hills on the north coast of Llŷn, whilst to the southwest is Abersoch and St. Tudwal's Islands.

From the road, walk through a pedestrian gate and onto a track which bends around to the left. When the path opens up onto a grassy area, turn sharp right and head up the hill. Towards the top you will need to climb some of the rock faces slightly. Beware on rocks that are wet as they are slippy, even if it seems that everything else is dry.

Enjoy the view!
