Views to Yr Eifl from the summit

Garn Boduan is only 280 metres high, yet offers fantastic panoramic views of the other hills of Llŷn, Cardigan Bay to the south as well as Caernarfon Bay to the north.

The lower slopes are wooded and there are some good tracks suitable for pushchairs etc. However, to get to the summit the paths are not so good and become narrow, uneven and even rocky.

To get to the summit, follow the main track from where you have parked, around the first sharp corner and up to where the track turns towards the right, where there is a smaller path leading up ahead of your through the trees into more open ground. Continue to follow this path as it almost turns back on itself twice as it continues up the hill. When you reach the rocky terrain near the top, the summit is found by turning right and up the last little bit. Care should be taken around the summit as the heather can hide loose rocks in the path and the paths are very uneven.

There are also the remains of one of Llŷn's three main hill forts around the summit - so look carefully and you can pick out some of the walls. A huge fire over 25 years ago burnt the trees on the north-western slopes, the stumps of which still remain today.

If you don't want to venture to the top, then it is still worth just walking around the wooded areas, it is very peaceful and there are some good vantage points.
