The Llŷn Peninsula offers quite different conditions for
food production than most other parts of Wales, here there
is plenty of rolling countryside, which is either used for
arable farming or grazing livestock, including cattle and
sheep.
There is plenty of local produce available, llefrith (milk),
menyn Cymreig (butter) and caws Llŷn (cheese) are all
produced from local cattle and sent out from South
Caernarfon Creameries in Y Ffôr, there are plenty of local
bakeries and of course there is seafood.
The coast around Llŷn provides an abundance of lobsters,
crabs, mackerel, and other delicacies which are prepared and
on sale locally. Local meat is prepared by butchers in
Pwllheli and Chwilog. It is often common to see local honey
on sale, from Bryncroes near Sarn, Llanbedrog, Edern or
Mynytho. Local vegetables are also available when in season.
