This quaint village is a popular resort on the
banks of the Glaslyn Estuary, and is a world away from it's
neighbour, Porthmadog, only a 5 minute walk away from the harbour.
The village has a car park, shop, restaurant, tea
shop and petrol station. The harbour is only accessible at High
Tide, quickly drying out as the tide drops. The views over the
estuary to the Rhinog Mountains to the south, and the Moelwyn
Mountains to the east are stunning on a clear day, especially in the
spring when there can still be snow on the summits.
From the village
there are a few footpaths along the cliffs leading eventually to
Black Rock Sands, near neighbouring Morfa Bychan. Along the side of
the estuary there are many small coves and hidden places to explore.
However, care should be taken as tidal currents in the estuary can
be very strong.
